Community Guidelines
Effective August 30, 2026Last updated August 30, 2026
Jammr is for messing about with your friends’ voices. These are the rules that keep it that way.
These Guidelines are part of our Terms of Use. Breaking them can cost you a recording, a clip, or your account. We have no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.
The short version
Record yourself, with people who agreed to be there, saying things you would be happy for the room to see and hear. Only submit clips you actually own. Do not aim any of this at a real person to hurt them, and never at a child.
Where these rules apply
They apply everywhere content exists in Jammr:
- Voice recordings you make in a Dub or a Jam.
- Video of yourself filmed during a Dub line, if you have turned filming on.
- Clips you submit for the catalog.
- Your profile photo, which the other people in your room can see.
- Display names and room titles you type.
- Reports you send us.
Never, under any circumstances
Anything involving a child
Zero tolerance, no warnings, no second chances. Do not record, submit, request, or share anything that sexualizes, exploits, or endangers a minor, and do not use Jammr to contact, groom, or solicit one.
We report apparent child sexual abuse material to the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children (NCMEC) and, where appropriate, to law enforcement. Accounts are terminated immediately.
If you see anything like this, report it with the Child safety reason. It is the first option in the list for a reason, and those reports go to the front of the queue.
Sexual content
No sexually explicit recordings, video, clips, or profile photos. No content depicting or encouraging non-consensual sexual activity. This applies to what you film as much as what you say.
Attacking real people
No harassment, bullying, threats, intimidation, or defamation — including of the other people in your room. Do not use a recording to target, humiliate, or pile on anybody. Do not impersonate a real, identifiable person in a way that is deceptive or damaging, and do not use someone else’s photo as your profile photo.
Hate
No content attacking people based on race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, caste, sexual orientation, sex, gender, gender identity, disability, or serious disease.
Violence and self-harm
No promotion of terrorism or violent extremism, no incitement to violence, no gratuitous or realistic violence, and nothing promoting or instructing suicide, self-harm, or eating disorders.
If you are struggling, please talk to someone. In the US you can call or text 988. Elsewhere, findahelpline.com lists local services.
Illegal activity
Nothing that facilitates serious physical harm or unlawful activity.
Recording other people
This one catches people out, so it gets its own section. It applies to your camera as well as your microphone.
- Get consent. Do not record someone’s voice or film them without their knowledge and agreement. If somebody wanders into frame, re-record.
- Mind where you are. Do not record in a place where other people expect privacy.
- Know your local law. Some places require everyone being recorded to consent. That is your responsibility, not ours.
- Do not read out other people’s information — addresses, phone numbers, anything private.
And for your own sake: do not put your own financial details, passwords, addresses, or health information into a recording, and check what is visible behind you before you film.
Filming is optional and off by default. If you would rather not be on video, simply leave it off — the game works exactly the same. When it is on, it only runs during a Dub line, and the video is recorded without sound.
What happens to what you make
Nothing leaves the app. Results are put together and played back inside Jammr. There is no download, no saved file, and nothing to post. When you tap Share, you are sending an invitation to your room — a code or a link — and nothing else.
That said, anyone can point another phone at their screen or screen-record it, and we cannot stop that. Treat a room like a room: assume the people in it could keep a copy some other way.
Your profile photo is not private
If you set a profile photo, everyone in any room you join can see it. Pick something you are happy for strangers to see, do not use a photo of somebody else, and do not use one that shows information you would rather keep to yourself.
You can change or remove it at any time from your profile. Removing it deletes it.
Rights: only submit what is yours
This matters most for “Submit your own.” An approved clip gets edited by us and published to everybody who uses Jammr, so a rights problem in a submission is a rights problem for the whole app.
Before you submit a clip, you must be able to say honestly that:
- You own it, or you have permission from everyone who does — including whoever owns any music, footage, or other material inside it.
- Everyone recognisable in it has agreed to it being published and edited, and if any of them is a child, a parent or guardian has agreed.
- It breaks none of these Guidelines.
Films, TV, YouTube videos, songs, and other people’s clips are not yours to send. If you did not make it, do not submit it.
Submitting is voluntary and unpaid — we do not pay for clips, and we are not obliged to publish or credit anything you send.
We record which version of the Terms you accepted and when you confirmed you hold the rights. If someone later disputes a clip, that is the record we rely on. The full terms for submissions are in Section 5 of the Terms of Use.
Using the tools honestly
- Do not file false reports, and do not use reporting to harass somebody.
- Do not make new accounts to get around a block, a ban, or the daily submission limit.
- Do not manipulate the app — no scraping, no ripping or capturing catalog media or other people’s recordings, no circumventing paywalls or limits.
What you can do about someone else
Report
Tap Report on the result screen to report a player or the room, or on a clip’s preview screen to report the clip. Pick a reason, add detail if it helps, and send. You can also email christoph@chaptr.film.
Reports are confidential. The person you report is not told who reported them.
Block
You can block someone as you report them, and manage your blocks in Profile → Blocked players.
A block in Jammr is real, not cosmetic:
- Their recordings stop playing for you.
- Neither of you can join a room the other is in — in either direction.
- They are not told they have been blocked.
You can lift a block at any time from Profile.
What we do
We review every submitted clip before anyone sees it. Clips you send for the catalog go into a private queue. A person watches each one. Nothing is published automatically, and most submissions are not published.
We do not listen to or watch your room recordings unless they are reported. Recordings made in a room are not pre-screened and are not scanned automatically. If somebody reports one — or reports a profile photo, a display name, or a room title — a member of our team may review it in order to enforce these Guidelines.
We aim to act on reports within 24 hours, and we put reports involving someone’s safety or a child at the front of the queue. That is the target we work to, not a promise we can guarantee in every case.
What we can do: remove a recording, a profile photo, or a clip, refuse or reverse publication, ban an account, and report to law enforcement.
Bans. A banned account cannot create or join rooms. Because Jammr accounts are anonymous and reinstalling the app creates a new one, we know a determined person can start again — a ban is one tool alongside removing content, not a perfect wall.
If we act against you
We will tell you what happened where we are required to. If you are in the EU, you can ask for a statement of reasons and appeal a decision — see Section 15 of the Terms of Use.
If you think we got it wrong, email christoph@chaptr.film and say so.
Copyright complaints
If something on Jammr infringes your copyright, email christoph@chaptr.film with the details listed in Section 7 of the Terms of Use. We remove infringing material and terminate repeat infringers.
